Planet Earth residents will be able to observe the meteor shower "Orionid" from October 16 till October 30. The number of meteoric events observed during this period will be different. On October 21, the Orionid meteor shower will be on its maximum activity. Thus, theoretically, up to 25 meteors per hour will be observed.

Elchin Babayev, deputy director of Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory named after N. Tusi, told AZERTAG in an interview.

He mentioned that the meteor shower "Orionid" will be visible in Baku at 17 degrees above the horizon in the Eastern direction at midnight. This means that we will be able to observe up to 7 meteors in an hour. This process can also be observed in the mountainous areas with the normal human eye, without any devices. In urban environments, artificial light sources prevent the meteors from being visible. The cause of the "Orionid" meteor shower is the famous Halley's Comet.

Halley's Comet passes through the Solar System every 75-76 years close to the Earth. This star was named "Halley Comet" in honor of Edmund Halle who was interested in it. This is the only comet that can be seen by the normal human eye.
