Ambassador of Republic of Korea visited the Science Development Foundation

The Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan is taking firm steps towards expanding its international relations and implementing concrete cooperation steps. The Foundation works to build and strengthen relations with the relevant structures of several countries, taking into account the scientific potential of the developed world countries and possible cooperation opportunities.

On July 12, 2018 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan Mr. Kim Chang-gyu visited the Science Development Foundation. Mr. Choi Kwan Yong, 2nd Secretary of the Embassy also attended the meeting.

Dr. Elchin Babayev, Executive Director of the Foundation underlined that political, economic and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Korea are developing on a sustainable basis; hence bilateral relations are on the way of improvement in other fields as well, including scientific cooperation.

Specific cooperation proposals by the Foundation included signing of cooperation documents between the relevant structures (foundations), organizing Korean-Azerbaijani joint grant competitions, mutual experience exchange of Korean and Azerbaijani scientists, cooperation with Korean scientific institutions and joint activities in the field of expertise.

Ambassador Kim Chang-gyu characterized the relations at different levels between the two countries. The Ambassador also mentioned the closeness of historical roots of these two countries and similar experiences and lifestyle. He stressed out his support for the development of fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijani and Korean scientists.

The Ambassador expressed confidence that exchange of these ideas could become a bridge for cooperation within the relevant scientific institutions of both Republics.
